HHR-SS, a true Super Sport, Road and Track said “They won’t make another one like this for a long time”. I ordered this one the day it was announced, and replaced it with a low mileage one. Truly a great utility sports car. Based on a 1948 Chevy Suburban in half size (cute looking), GM's tech-rich turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec four putting out 260HP with 260 foot pounds of wheel ripping torque, will do 0 to 60 in 6.3 sec, if you can keep the front wheels from spinning, but it get a real 28MPG on the highway. The motor can be busted to 300 or 320 with a GM kit. The Pontiac Solstice had a model with 325Hp. So in the HHR-SS’s motor is under stressed. A quicker steering ratio, in conjunction with electric power assist and a smaller-diameter sport steering wheel, gives the SS's steering feel proper weight and provides very good feedback. It steers like a Go-kart. GM flogged it around Nürburgring and I believed stet the class lap record. In addition to stiffer springs, struts and front and rear anti-roll bars for improved handling, the front suspension has been completely redesigned over the base HHR. Meaty 225/45WR18 on 18” chrome rims. This one has a proper 5 speed manual trans. The clutch lasted 180,000 miles. It’s a station wagon that seats 4 adults, has large stored space that doubles with the back seats folded down. A roof rack for getting wood and stuff to big for the inside, and a trailer hitch to get home a yard or two on mulch. The perfect Bad Ass little car. Even with its high mileage there are 10s of thousands of miles left it her. She has never used a drop of oil between changes. Not a drop. People have asked about maintenance: The oil was changed per the in can meter around 7,000 miles,Mobil 1 only, and the motor hasn't used a drop between changes. The throw out bearing went at 180K but my mechanic said the clutch still had meat but we replaced it since it was open. I replaced a number of front end parts from about 100K to 150K but in 2017 I didn't like the way the front end felt so I took it to the Chevy Dealer and said fix anything that looks worn, The cost $2,645 it had 237K then. I think the alternator was replace once too. I just replaced the front struts today. Kelly Blue Book puts the Private Sale Value at $3,250.
